RACE REPORT: WSBK IMOLA
Round 12, Imola, Italy Circuit: 4.936 kms Conditions: Dry, mostly sunny 25-28 C.
Great results for Regina during the WSBK Italian race.
Ducati riders dominated in their home track, with a race victory apiece: Haga took the win in race one, followed by Regina riders Max Biaggi (Aprilia) and Fabrizio (Ducati) in second and third position respectively. Biaggi took the lead of the race from the start, followed by Haga, Fabrizio and Rea. Rea crashed during race two, and Haga took the lead on lap seventeen, maintaining it till the end, while Biaggi and Fabrizio battled for second position till the last corner.
Race two was won by Regina Rider Fabrizio, with Haga second and Marco Simoncelli (Aprilia) on the third tier of the podium. For Simoncelli, this was his debut in the reigning class of production derived bikes, an excellent result for the young Italian.
Thanks to the results obtained in Imola, Noriyuki Haga thus regains the championship lead, with only two rounds to go.
